Tipmont network maintenance scheduled 4a-6a this week
UPDATED: 06/02/2025

Tipmont will perform routine fiber-optic network maintenance from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday (6/3), Wednesday (6/4) and Thursday (6/5). Customers will likely encounter a 10- to 20-minute internet service outage during that timeframe, but service should self-restore. If you experience service issues outside those hours, please call 800-726-3953 or email help@tipmont.com.

SmartHub will be briefly unavailable due to maintenance at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. We anticipate the service will be available again after several minutes.

Keep warmth where it belongs this winter

Tipmont members in newer homes may think they don’t need our free home energy assessment program — that it’s for people in homes built when fiber referred to your breakfast or your clothes.

And while every home is unique, the typical one sends about a quarter of its heating and cooling costs right out the door … and windows. No matter when your home was built, Tipmont’s assessment can help you be more efficient and save money.

That assessment is just one part of a winterizing strategy that is smart to start in autumn — investigating leaks, ensuring appliances and HVAC systems are working as they should, and ensuring the air you heat throughout the winter is well-circulated and stays inside your home.

In that spirit, here are some quick tips to consider as you work your way into winter:

  • Keep air vents clear: Vents can better circulate warm air when they’re not blocked by furniture.
  • Investigate air leaks: Inspect penetration points such as windows, doors, external water faucets, fireplace dampers, and dryer vents. Address any gaps or cracks that will leak air in or out of your home.
  • Check your fireplace: If you have one, close the damper to prevent cold drafts.
  • Harness the sun’s power: Open your blinds, shades, and drapes during the day to let sunlight warm your home. Close them at night for insulation purposes.
  • Turn ceiling fans clockwise: As you turn clocks back, turn ceiling fans clockwise. Use low speeds to pull cold air up and push warm air down.
  • Replace your HVAC filters: Don’t remember when you last did this? That means it’s probably time. Fresh filters help keep your HVAC system running smoothly.

In 90 minutes or less, Kevin Carpenter — our trusted energy advisor — can show you even more ways to save up to 30% on your monthly energy bill. Schedule an assessment online or call 800-726-3953 to learn more.
