Outage restoration updates

Severe weather has caused significant damage to our system.

9 a.m. update: 39 outages affecting 241 members. All crews are working across our service territory and have restored more than 4,500 members with power. They will continue to work until service is restored to all members.

Crews are currently working on outages affecting fewer than 50 members. Progress will be slower, as the same amount of work required to restore larger outages will now only restore a few members at a time. Please continue to call 800-726-3953 or log into SmartHub (tipmont.smarthub.coop) to report outages.

Crews are working near:
  • Tippecanoe County: Bridgeway Drive (broken pole), East Meadowbrook Drive
  • Fountain County: North Shalepit Road (broken pole), E. 130 N.
Thirteen broken poles remain on our system and must be changed out.
Tree crews are present in Battle Ground to remove trees from lines, and the next available tree crew will head to Hillsboro to remove trees from lines there.
We are receiving assistance from crews from Hoosier Edison and Henry County REMC
As a safety reminder, assume any downed line is energized and stay far away. Call 911 to report downed power lines.

SmartHub briefly unavailable at 4:30 p.m.

SmartHub will be briefly unavailable due to maintenance at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. We anticipate the service will be available again after several minutes.

Security Lights

Security lights are outdoor light fixtures for use on your property to enhance the safety and security of your home, outbuildings and/or premises. They are available to any Tipmont member for continuous year-round service at locations readily accessible for maintenance purposes (at the sole discretion of Tipmont).

About Security Lights

Tipmont security lighting is photocell-controlled. They turn on automatically in the dark and turn off automatically when light is no longer necessary. Generally speaking, this is from dusk to dawn; however, lighting may activate at other times depending on levels of darkness.

Tipmont offers two security light services: metered and unmetered. The flat monthly rate is per light and includes costs for lighting equipment and electrical operation maintenance. All new installations of Tipmont security lighting use LED bulbs.

The installation time varies on lights installed for Unmetered Ornamental Services. Upon that request, engineers must meet with members to determine costs, and installation is scheduled only after payment.

Per Tipmont policy, we install lights for Unmetered Standard Services within five (5) business days of a request. If Unmetered Standard Service lights cannot be placed on a Tipmont meter or transformer pole, there may be an additional installation charge.

Tipmont offers the following bulb styles in Unmetered Standard Services: Open Bottom, “Cobra Head”, Directional Flood
