Many Tipmont members have switched to streaming TV and love the savings and benefits. Here are some tips to keep your experience as smooth as James Bond with a shaken martini.
- Reboot your internet router and streaming device once a month.
These devices are essentially computers with memory that is cleaned upon reboot. Simply unplug each device from the power outlet, wait 60 seconds and then plug it back in. Your router will take a few minutes to reconnect. - Check your WiFi signal.
A poor signal can create streaming frustration. Two primary culprits are signal interference and distance from the router. Ensure your router is in an open space and not tucked behind a desk or other furniture. If you have a larger home, Tipmont offers a mesh unit for $3 per month to sufficiently extend your signal. - Wired > wireless.
Some new homes are wired with ethernet cable, which improves streaming performance. However, streaming devices with ethernet ports (Roku Ultra, Apple TV) are often premium and more costly. - Download for when you’re on the go.
Most streaming services let you download content to a phone or tablet — great for when traveling with limited or no connectivity.
