Wintek celebrates fiber-to-the-home availability in Tippecanoe County

During a community event at the Wabash Township Fire Station, Wintek Powered by Tipmont formally announced availability of its fiber-to-the-home internet service in rural areas of Tippecanoe County.

Service is now available to more than 500 homes, completing the first phase of a project scheduled to offer service to more than 2,000 addresses by the end of 2025.

It’s the result of a partnership between Wintek Powered by Tipmont and the Tippecanoe County Commissioners, who provided county funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Rob Ford, communication director for Wintek Powered by Tipmont, delivered remarks, as did Tippecanoe County Commissioner Tom Murtaugh and Candiss Vibbert, who lives a half-mile from Purdue University and will be one of the first customers connected to Wintek Powered by Tipmont service.

“Technology is about communication, and communication is about connecting us to each other,” Vibbert said. “This forward-looking initiative reflects a commitment to make our area a better place to live, work and play.”

Area residents were invited to enjoy free cookies from Baked by Brittaney and free beverages from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Lafayette. Children in attendance also enjoyed guided tours of the fire trucks at the station.

Fiber-to-the-home internet from Wintek Powered by Tipmont is now available in the following areas of Tippecanoe County:

  • East County Road 1200 South
  • Montmorenci & Surrounding Areas
  • Purdue University Airport West
  • White County / Tippecanoe County Border
