Tipmont provides free public WiFi at TSC high school athletic facilities and public spaces

The Tippecanoe School Corporation and Tipmont are thrilled to announce a joint initiative that will provide free public WiFi around the athletic facilities and in other public spaces at both Harrison High School and McCutcheon High Schools.

This initiative allows parents, guardians and spectators to connect their personal devices to Tipmont’s state-of-the-art WiFi network and gain access to the internet during public gatherings, such as athletic events and auditorium performances. The service is available after school and available to all patrons.

“Since the deployment of TSC’s fiber-optic network over a decade ago, the TSC and Tipmont have partnered to support the district’s technological needs,” says TSC Director of Technology Dr. Devin Arms. “As the dedicated internet service provider for the school district, Tipmont has consistently provided cutting-edge connectivity solutions, enabling teachers, students and administrators to leverage the latest technologies in teaching, learning and educational operations.”

Arms says the partnership between TSC and Tipmont grew even stronger during the Covid-19 pandemic. In response to the increased demand for remote connectivity, the TSC and Tipmont collaborated to establish free public WiFi hotspots at four school facilities. These hotspots, strategically located around the exterior of the buildings, have provided invaluable internet access to the community.

The successful implementation of this project at the high schools was made possible through a collaboration between the TSC Technology Department and Tipmont engineers, which involved designing the implementation plan and managing the technical requirements to facilitate seamless connectivity.

“Connectivity is a cornerstone of modern life,” said Ron Holcomb, president and CEO of Tipmont. “Tipmont is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the TSC and to support their evolving opportunities.”
