Tipmont director and board chairman Jerry Peevler passed away on December 31, 2020. Peevler was Tipmont’s District 6 director covering eastern Montgomery County and western Fountain county.
“Jerry’s passing is a loss for so many,” said Ron Holcomb, President & CEO of Tipmont REMC. “Through his leadership, Tipmont has made many positive changes for our community, company, and membership. He led with courage, vision, and kindness. Jerry was also my friend, and I will miss him very much.”
Peevler served on Tipmont’s board since 2007 and as board chairman since 2019. He was also Tipmont’s director for Wabash Valley Power Alliance. During his time on Tipmont’s board, he completed his Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) Certificate and earned his Board Leadership Certificate (BLC) through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). He also has completed Director Gold, the highest director certification awarded by the NRECA.
As board chairman, Peevler led the implementation of the first Community Solar array in Indiana and helped increased reliability through system upgrades and the transition from a six-year to a three-year tree-trimming cycle, decreasing tree contact outages by 64 percent. He played a significant role in authorizing the fiber-optic broadband initiative that will provide access to state-of-the-art broadband service to Tipmont’s entire service territory by 2024.
