supporting our environment

EnviroWatts

159 grants totaling $858,684.45 since 2003!

A healthy environment is crucial for the well-being of and quality of life in our communities. Clean air, safe drinking water, and thriving agriculture are among the many benefits.

EnviroWatts is a program that allows Tipmont members to support environmental projects in our community.

renewable energy

How It Works

When you sign up for EnviroWatts, you elect to pay a small premium of one cent per kilowatt-hour on your electric bill. The maximum contribution is $5 per month, per account.

For example, an electric bill of $80 would become $85. The $5 difference is placed into the EnviroWatts trust fund. The total contribution each year is tax-deductible.

The extra penny per kilowatt-hour goes into the EnviroWatts Trust Fund, overseen by a board of volunteer Tipmont members.

The contributions have added up to over $850,000 in support of local environmental projects.

Why We Participate In EnviroWatts

Tipmont and our power supplier, Wabash Valley Power (WVPA), are participating in the EnviroWatts program because we believe it’s the right thing to do for the environment and our members.

As Tipmont members and others demonstrate interest in renewable green power, that interest will drive the market to develop more renewable power sources and alternative energy technologies. The more renewable power that is available, the less we will need to rely on traditional energy sources like coal.

EnviroWatts provides a way for you to support environmental improvement projects in your community, support the environment, and demonstrate your interest in renewable energy.
