Meredith Anderson of West Lafayette, Ind., will participate in the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). She was selected to represent the state from the 61 Indiana student delegates who participated in the June Indiana Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
“Youth Tour has changed the trajectory of my life,” said Anderson. “I was able to explore America’s great history and culture in a way I never expected. The people were amazing and truly made the experience unforgettable. The other Indiana students were so incredible to tour with, and the chaperones were phenomenal at keeping us organized in a fun manner. I am honored that IEC chose me as the Indiana YLC delegate, and I am so excited to learn and grow through this incredible opportunity.”
Anderson will participate in a yearlong leadership experience as the Indiana Youth Leadership Council delegate. Her journey begins with a return to Washington, D.C., in July 2025 for leadership and public speaking training. Between August and November, she will complete a local community service project. In December, she will speak at the Indiana Electric Cooperatives Annual Meeting. In March 2026, she will travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the NRECA Annual Meeting, where she will assist with event operations, participate in the opening assembly and Parade of States, and support staff at information booths and the Congressional Action Center.
“On behalf of Tipmont’s board of directors, we are so proud of Meredith’s accomplishment. She will represent Indiana’s electric cooperatives with distinction as she uses this opportunity to grow her already impressive leadership skills and character,” said Ron Holcomb, president and CEO of Tipmont.
Anderson is the daughter of Braden and Kassandra Anderson of West Lafayette and will be a senior at William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette in the fall.
