UPDATED: 06/02/2025

Tipmont will perform routine fiber-optic network maintenance from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday (6/3), Wednesday (6/4) and Thursday (6/5). Customers will likely encounter a 10- to 20-minute internet service outage during that timeframe, but service should self-restore. If you experience service issues outside those hours, please call 800-726-3953 or email help@tipmont.com.

Free Wintek WiFi at TSC Schools

Wintek powered by Tipmont has partnered with TSC’s Technology Department to enable free WiFi at four TSC schools. The WiFi is available at Southwestern, East Tipp and Wainwright Middle Schools and Klondike Elementary school.

How to connect

Free Wintek WiFi at TSC Schools

To access the internet, parents or students simply drive their car near the location identified on the map. The hot spot is named “Free Wintek WiFi” and a sandwich board is located nearby. Connection is a simple, three-step process:

  1. Connect to “Free Wintek WiFi
  2. Accept the Terms and Conditions
  3. Enjoy Wintek fiber internet!

Each WiFi hot spot covers the adjacent parking lot and connects to Wintek’s state-of-the-art fiber internet network that offers symmetrical speeds and unlimited usage.

The WiFi will remain a service for students and the larger community. An additional hot spot is also available at North Montgomery High School. Wintek is working to deploy other free WiFi locations in Tippecanoe, Montgomery and Fountain counties.

We’re incredibly pleased to partner with Wintek powered by Tipmont to offer support for our students by helping make WiFi more accessible during remote student learning. The TSC school boundary area covers 437 square miles of rural Tippecanoe County so to say internet accessibility and internet reliability are at best unreliable would be an understatement. The TSC is grateful to Tipmont REMC/Wintek for stepping forward in a time of crisis to help meet a significant school and community need.

TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback.

When using public Wifi

Wintek powered by Tipmont also reminds the public to use precautions when connecting to an open WiFi connection. Treat this with the same caution as any other public internet connection. Use care when connecting to any websites that require a password or personal information. This includes social networking sites, online banking services or any websites that store your credit card information. Also, consider using a VPN if you access any site that requires a password or your personal information and making sure your anti-virus software is up to date.
