At the 2024 Annual Meeting, Tipmont members elected Tom Cutter to the cooperative’s Board of Directors as the representative for District 2.
“As a Tipmont member for 35 years, I have seen firsthand the incredible initiatives to expand services and enhance infrastructure in ways that benefit everyone Tipmont serves,” Cutter said. “I am eager to play a role in promoting Tipmont’s continued growth and success in rural areas, especially with internet service, and keeping rates affordable.”
Cutter is currently a certified public accountant (CPA) practicing in West Lafayette, where he advises individuals, families, and closely held businesses. His professional career began at a national accounting firm, and for the last 35 years, he has also served as a chief financial officer (CFO) for corporations ranging from $400 million to $800 million.
In addition to his Tipmont service, Cutter volunteers with the Chamber of Commerce, United Way, YMCA, Rotary, and various church committees and youth sports, and is a founder of the Greater Lafayette YMCA Foundation.
He graduated from Western Michigan University (WMU) with a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting.
“One of the first things people ask when they meet me is if I played basketball, and the answer is yes,” says Cutter, who enjoyed an exceptional men’s basketball career at WMU (where he is a hall-of-fame inductee who still holds numerous records) and was drafted into the National Basketball Association. Cutter lives in Lafayette with his wife, Jan. Together, they have three grown children.
