Building a more effective rebate program
Electric utilities offer rebate programs to incentivize members to improve their energy efficiency. Using less energy helps lower the cost of meeting demand and avoids new infrastructure costs while supporting grid reliability and power quality.
On June 1, 2025, Tipmont exited its membership with Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), our long-time power supplier. As such, Tipmont is now a WVPA customer, purchasing power supply from WVPA in quantities that annually decrease to zero in 2032.
This decision was made so we could bring our largest cost – wholesale power supply – under our control and use the open energy market to purchase wholesale power at the best possible rate, while avoiding unnecessary and unplanned costs that we incurred as a WVPA member.
Included in Tipmont’s WVPA membership was WVPA’s PowerMoves program. Over the last several years, Tipmont member participation in PowerMoves was very low.
Tipmont’s exit from WVPA offers the opportunity to build a long-term rebate program that best matches the needs of our membership. Our staff is working hard to gather your feedback and build a program that benefits our entire cooperative.
