Four generations of my family reside in the Tipmont area. From my 91-year-old mother to my 4-year-old granddaughter, I was born and have lived here most of my life. My wife, Shelly, is a first-grade teacher at Glen Acres Elementary. We have six children and four grandchildren. Four of our children are educators in Tippecanoe and Clinton counties, one works for Subaru of Indiana Automotive, and another is a financial advisor in Schaumburg, Illinois.
I graduated from McCutcheon High School and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana State University. I started my career as a public
accountant then moved into manufacturing as a corporate controller. For the past 29 years, I have worked for State Farm as a community specialist, working closely with municipalities, schools, fire departments and nonprofits in seven states.
My volunteer and community service includes: Tippecanoe School Corporation board member (past president); Wea Township trustee; Junior Achievement senior council member; Homestead Resources board member (past president); and Communities in Schools of Indiana board member (past president). I’ve also operated the Evil on Erie haunted house, served as an Indiana 4-H leader, Boy Scout leader and committee chair, coached youth baseball, softball and football, and served on the Terre Haute Arson Task Force and the Chamber Golden Apple Committee.
Electricity impacts all lives. Its importance and demand only grows as technology advances. It is Tipmont’s responsibility to fulfill the needs of its growing population through affordable pricing, maintaining a strong / trained workforce and managing assets to proactively prepare for the unexpected.
My accounting education, professional experience and years of leadership on local and statewide boards have prepared me to contribute meaningfully to Tipmont’s Board of Directors. I bring a passion for serving others, a deep commitment to this community and a determination to make the most of every opportunity entrusted to me. I am confident I would be a valuable resource to the board and a dedicated advocate for all Tipmont members.
