In October, Tipmont distributed nearly $20,000 in grants from its Operation Round Up and EnviroWatts programs. They funded initiatives to support science education for young women, improve access at a charity thrift store, provide necessary materials for newborns, repair a facility that helps people recover from addictions, and plant 200-plus trees in greater Lafayette.
Operation Round Up
In Operation Round Up, you round up your monthly Tipmont electric bill to the nearest dollar. Your tax-deductible average annual contribution of $6 benefits such area nonprofit efforts as:
- Motors, controllers and gearboxes to help Lafayette’s Team 8232 Robotics. Made up of young women ages 14 to 18, the team will build a robot for the 2022 FIRST Robotics program competition.
- New shopping carts for Lafayette locations of Millie’s Thrift Store. Smaller carts can be more easily maneuvered through aisles and operated by seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Diapers, wipes and formula for families in need at Crawfordsville’s Women’s Resource Center. The center serves nearly 300 mostly lower-income families each year, providing essential baby items to care for children.
- Siding, trim and nails to replace aged infrastructure at Lafayette’s Service, Unity, Recovery, Fellowship (SURF) Center. Supporting more than 2,500 people a year, the SURF Center is a resource and referral center for individuals recovering from addictions.

Adding just one cent per kilowatthour to your monthly Tipmont electric bill — with a $5 monthly maximum — supports local projects in sustainability, renewable energy and environmental improvement, including:
- Planting 200-plus trees in public spaces throughout Lafayette through Tree Lafayette. The organization plants species native to Indiana as much as possible and facilitates their maintenance.
