LED Bulb Flickering

Tipmont system engineers have noticed some flickering issues when the LED bulbs Tipmont has been giving away are used with older dimmers.

Based on their research, they believe the flickering is caused by older dimmers that turn electricity off for part of the wave length at a slower rate than newer dimmers. The slower rate didn’t matter with incandescent bulbs because they stay hot enough to not flicker. LED bulbs don’t work the same way.

The engineers are doing more research to learn more. In the meantime, the bulb manufacturer, Cree, has a list of recommended dimmers available on their website at creebulb.com/dimmers. If you have any questions, please call Tipmont at (800) 726-3953.
