Ivy Tech Day, the second annual day of giving for Indiana’s largest postsecondary institution, is coming on Tuesday, April 23. You can support the more than 190,000 students pursuing “Higher Education at the Speed of Life.”
Last year’s inaugural Ivy Tech Day was a major success, with over 2,000 gifts equaling more than $243,000 raised across the College’s 19 campuses — including $13,300 to support student scholarships and enhanced learning opportunities in the greater Lafayette area. Ivy Tech has provided a career pipeline for many Tipmont staff members helping to bring reliable electricity and better internet to area homes, schools, farms, and businesses.
This year, on Ivy Tech Day, the Lafayette campus will have food, activities, and contests for students and employees, as well as a drawing for donations to put a pie in the Chancellor’s face. Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski will proclaim April 23 as “Ivy Tech Day,” and the Tippecanoe County Courthouse will be lit up in green to add to the celebration. Some key statistics about Ivy Tech’s impact on our communities:
- 93% of graduates stay in Indiana.
- Ivy Tech contributes nearly $4 billion to Indiana’s economy.
- More than 40,000 degrees and certificates are awarded annually.
- 40% of students are the first in their families to attend college, and 25% are students of color.
- Ivy Tech graduates more nurses with two-year degrees than any U.S. college. One in three Indiana RNs received their degree from Ivy Tech and 90% work in Indiana hospitals and health care settings.
Tipmont’s EnviroWatts grant program has also supported Ivy Tech Energy Technology students with scholarships since 2010 for a total of $115,000.
