Good Food & Conversation at Kilowatts & Brats

Several hundred Tipmont REMC members joined us for Kilowatts & Brats events in May – at which we served up tasty food and the latest on our fiber-internet build and pursuit of a new power supplier.

Ron Holcomb, president and CEO of Tipmont Wintek, shared recent developments in how Tipmont is fighting for you to find a power supplier that will offer fairness, freedom and flexibility. Tipmont has stated its case to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and we remain hopeful as we await FERC’s final ruling on this matter. (Read more about why, and how, Tipmont is fighting for you.)

Communication director Rob Ford then offered an update on Wintek’s fiber-internet build plans through 2024 – at which point everyone on Tipmont REMC’s electric-service grid will have access to broadband. The presentation outlined where we’re building now, as well as where we’ll be in 2023 and 2024. It also gave details on recent state funding that will accelerate our fiber build and a new federal subsidy for discounted home internet service.

Whether you were new to this free, annual chat or spent the better part of the last year dreaming about brats and cheesecake, Tipmont Wintek thanks you for attending. We also thank our hosts for these events at North Montgomery High School (Montgomery County), West Lafayette Golf & Country Club (Tippecanoe County) and Fountain Central Jr.-Sr. High School (Fountain County).

Want to catch up with us later this summer? We’ll have booths at county fairs in Fountain, Montgomery and Tippecanoe Counties this July. Then, our 2022 Annual Meeting will take place Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds in Lafayette, Ind. Be sure to save the date!
